In 2024, Issey Miyake turned sea salt into a perfume material. Two years on, Le Sel d'Issey Parfum pushes the idea to its darkest expression: the salt turns black, thickened with saffron, leather and amber. The new concentration by Quentin Bisch has just landed at Olara.
1Salt, Issey Miyake's new signature material
It all began in 2024: with Le Sel d'Issey Eau de Toilette, the Japanese house handed Quentin Bisch — the nose behind the famous Delina by Parfums de Marly, among others — an unusual brief: make salt smell. Success was immediate, and the line grew: the Eau de Parfum in 2025, denser, then this Parfum in 2026, the most intense chapter. True to the line's eco-conscious spirit, the formula is vegan and 92% natural origin, in a bottle made with recycled glass. The whole house is gathered in our Issey Miyake collection.

What is the difference between Le Sel d'Issey EdT, EdP and Parfum?
Same salty signature, rising intensity: the Eau de Toilette (2024) is fresh and solar, the Eau de Parfum (2025) denser and woodier, and the Parfum (2026) adds a leather-saffron-amber facet that makes it darker, longer-lasting and dressier.
Who created Le Sel d'Issey?
French perfumer Quentin Bisch, one of the most sought-after noses of his generation — he is notably behind Delina by Parfums de Marly. He signs all three concentrations of the line.
What does a “salty” fragrance smell like?
Think of sea spray and skin dried in the sun after a swim: a mineral, slightly iodine-like effect, neither sweet nor floral. In this Parfum version, that effect is warmed by saffron, leather and amber — more night than beach.
